For several years we provided a "Baby Ears" cd to new parents through the Valley View Medical Center. While we are working towards a new sponsor the Orchestra of Southern Utah encourages parents to provide quality music in the home as an enrichment and also to encourage children to study an instrument.
This new Listening Club is an extension of our commitment to increasing music in our community. We will explore great classics, different instruments, and the interaction of art and music. The music will appeal to all ages.
Because we are using publicly available websites parents will want to be involved in focusing in on the music and helping children navigate past the advertising images.
Listening:
Let's start with 15 Melodies you probably know and where they come from:
Activity:
Part of the fun of attending a live performance is watching
the musicians and knowing the sounds of each instrument.
This site helps with learning about specific instruments and
musical periods with listening quizzes.
